A digital copy is emailed to Members and Friends each spring, summer, fall and winter. Friends and Members have access to all issues dating back to 1978. |

This professional development conference for professional and aspiring book creators is held every other year in Saskatchewan. The next one will be in 2027. | Canada’s largest competition for unpublished children’s writers. Every entry receives a written evaluation from at least one traditionally published CANSCAIP Member volunteer reader. Cash prizes are awarded to the winning Middle Grade and Young Adult entries, and the top two Picture Book entries. Winners and two finalists in each category are given time to revise their entries before CANSCAIP submits them to three topnotch Canadian children’s book publishers. |
Our online critique groups provide the opportunity for Friends and Members from across Canada to give and receive feedback on works-in-progress. No need to send your pages in advance. Just come ready to share your story and meet other creators in a friendly, small group setting. | Our free self-guided online retreats provide an opportunity for Members and Friends from across the country—writers and illustrators alike—to connect, create, and share in a safe space Silent work sessions and meetups geared to participant interests take place throughout the day, or as much of it as works for each individual. |
Online social networking events, each consisting of three 20-minute breakout rooms, are attended by Members and/or Friends from across the country several times a year. In-person events are organized by an Ontario Socials Team who are happy to help others set up such opportunities for Members and/or Friends to meet up in other parts of the country. | The Great Canadian Picture Book Party is a fantastic way to discover picture books being published right now, presented by the creators themselves, while enjoying a playlist of Canadian music between each reading.
