Bio
Farida Zaman is a Toronto based illustrator, Author and educator known for her upbeat, bright friendly yet sophisticated and whimsical style. The illustrator’s work is often female focused with style, colour and culture. Farida has a long career of working with the publishing industry in Canada, US and The Uk. She has illustrated several picture books with various publishing houses around the world.
Farida’s first authored picture book that she illustrated- “I Want to Be” A Gutsy Girl’s ABC was published spring 2020. Currently she is working with Owl books and Orca Books on 2 new picture books written and illustrated by herself coming out in 2023 and 2024.
She is a member of the Society of Illustrators in New York, SCBWI (Society for Children’s Bookwriters and Illustrators), Canscaip (Canadian Society Of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers)
Farida is currently an instructor at Toronto’s Avenue Road Art School and runs art workshops and weekly classes for adults and children in fine art and illustration. Farida has taught workshops at the Ontario College for Art and Design (OCAD University).
