Bio
Dorothy Bentley writes articles, cartoons, columns, poetry and fiction. Her picture book, Summer North Coming, (Fitzhenry & Whiteside) was released in 2019, and her YA novel, Escape from the Wildfire, (Lorimer Kids & Teens) was released in 2022. She’s a winner of the RMWB Words in Motion poetry contest (2016); and she was short-listed for an Excellence in the Arts Award, Literary Arts category, by Arts Council Wood Buffalo (2022). She lives in Foothills County with her family, a Sheltie named Clay, and a cat named Whitney Mewston who likes to sing. Dorothy loves doing school presentations and if she isn't travelling, she is planning her next adventure. Read more at dorothybentley.ca.

Presentations:

Summer North Coming and Winter North Coming picture book read aloud with props and rhyming text. Learn about life in the north! Suitable for K to grade 3. 30 min.

Creative Writing; theme and focus are flexible based on requirements. Grade 4 + up. 1 hour.

Hero Stories: Creative writing, climate, and biodiversity focus with YA novel, Escape from the Wildfire, and author journey. Grade 5 up.

Presentation on how a picture book is created, suitable for Grade 4 up to post secondary.

University and college presentations.

Presentations may be pre-recorded to allow for several small groups or classes to view at various times. Questions may be emailed ahead of time. Please inquire for rates.
